July 14, 2003

Founded by Pierre-Horace Boivin, Quebec's Granby Zoo is the oldest in the province. It has long enjoyed the respect of the national and international zoological community for its innovative programs and achievements in the fields of research and conservation. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Granby Zoo is home to approximately 800 specimens of 226 species - mostly exotic. The organization has developed an array of educational and recreational programs during the past half-century, and has created an environment that's respectful of nature and the animals housed within.
