The setup of your AddressComplete API key, presents a great opportunity to enhance your security measures, improve your systems, and maintain client trust. You can take proactive steps to ensure your security settings are optimally configured, preventing any improper incidents.

At Canada Post, we are committed to fortifying your AddressComplete API keys and ensuring secure integrations to protect your business operations and enhance your overall experience. This article explains how to strengthen your AddressComplete integration and safeguard your data, assets, and account against potential threats. Together, we can create a more secure environment for everyone.

To ensure that your integration remains secure, we offer a few simple security options which can be set to your needs. By implementing these measures, you can effectively mitigate risks and enhance the protection of your AddressComplete service.

Securing Your API Keys:

API keys serve as the gateway to accessing AddressComplete services, and it’s imperative to safeguard them effectively. Here are some recommended settings to strengthen the security of your API keys.

Applying these security settings is straightforward. Log into your AddressComplete account and simply select the key you wish to edit, and then click on the General Settings tab to access these options.

Daily limit ($):

Each key can be limited to only allow a certain number of lookups in a day, up to a maximum spend limit. If you know approximately how frequently a key will be used per day, you can use this setting to ensure it doesn’t get overused.

Limit by URL:

To mitigate the risk of fraudulent or unintended use of your keys across various domains, we recommend specifying the URLs from which you anticipate requests. You can add URLs by entering them into the designated text box and clicking on the “Add” button. Remember to include any relevant subdomains and variations of URLs.

Limit by IP:

Like the Daily Limit feature, the IP Limiter functionality allows you to impose request limitations on all IP addresses, providing better management and control over usage. To enable this, use the IP limiter toggle and exclude any specific IP addresses from this limit by simply inputting the desired IP addresses into the designated text box and clicking on the “Add” button. As the next step, you can define the IP limit between 0 to 100 using the scale provided at the bottom.

Account Password:

Lastly, ensure that you use a strong password for your AddressComplete account to prevent unauthorized access.

By implementing these security measures, you can fortify your AddressComplete integration and protect your business against potential security threats. If you have any questions or need assistance with implementing these security settings, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.
